I recently returned from a magical Tantra workshop held in the mountains of New Mexico. I haven't written much in the past about workshops I've attended, but I wanted to share a few highlights from this experience. Much information is available on chakras. At the risk of oversimplifying, chakras refer to energy centers in the body. Beliefs vary in the number of chakras, but many people refer to seven common chakras. I generally feel energy flow between the seven chakras in my body. From my root chakra, which I associate with my anus, to my crown chakra, which I associate with a spot above my head, I feel the flow of energy in waves. Conscious breathing helps me feel the energy. Lately, as I've paid more attention to this energy I've become aware of a blockage around my third chakra, in by abdomen. I became acutely aware of this blockage during the workshop. I noticed that my erotic energy was blocked from my lower chakras to my upper chakras. It felt that the energy wanted and needed to move, but it was having a hard time moving. As I explored this blockage more it became clear to me that this part of my body still needed healing. I've never been fond of my belly. Since I was a child, I've always wished for a less noticeable belly and it's been a place of shame for me. It was time to work on the holding going on in my belly. I asked for aggressive massage on my abdomen. Usually abdominal massage is pretty light but I knew I needed a more aggressive approach and the person I was paired with accommodated my request. As he was working, I felt a lot release from my belly. I made quite a bit of noise and afterwards I notice how relaxed my abdomen was. In fact, I've couldn't recall the last time I felt so relaxed in that part of my body! You may want to notice how the energy flows in your body. In particular pay attention to how your erotic energy moves through your body. As you begin to notice patterns that can be useful for your healing too. The other highlight from the workshop was a body meditation we did for the final evening. I began the meditation in a seated lotus position with my legs crossed. My body was really having a hard time with this position. My knee hurt and my legs were falling asleep. I kept telling myself that I was in the position to learn something. To be honest though, I'm not sure I believed myself! After what seems like an inordinate amount of time, my body finally began to relax. I began to feel my muscles slowly relax and the pain began to subside. As I continued breathing, we were invited to slowly move and begin some light self touch. As I started to move I notice that there were amazing waves of energy flowing though my body. As I moved more and stayed in the meditative trance, I wanted to see where I could take this erotically charged meditation. I've experienced many full body orgasms before, but never before did I experience such waves of orgasms from a meditation. I felt wave after wave of body based orgasms from breathing and meditating! This was a landmark experience from me. I've never experienced wave after wave of full body orgasms from breathing, meditation and very light, non genital touch. The meditation started with the higher chakras and worked down to the lower ones. I've usually started at the lower ones and worked up. I'm continuing to play with this new experience and am learning more about it. I plan to include this type of meditation in my client work too!
A Cabaret evening to benefit Positive Being Positive Being is a non-profit service organization dedicated to improving through touch the quality of life for those living with HIV, primarily by linking them with volunteer massage therapists and other body-workers. I volunteer as a Positive Being masseur. Positive Being emphasizes the importance of loving touch as a complementary healing tool for a population beleaguered by impersonal clinical therapies and the damaging side effects of toxic drugs. More information on Positive Being programs and about becoming a client, volunteer or benefactor can be found on their website: www.positivebeing.org. Stars and starlets from dozens of the hottest musicals to grace Bay Area stages will appear in this one-night-only event to benefit Positive Being. The delightfully talented cast is directed by entertainer extraordinaire Sean Ray, whose annual Cabaret to Fight AIDS has been a hit fundraiser for the past seven years, benefiting such organizations as the UCSF AIDS Health Project, the San Francisco AIDS Foundation, AIDS/LifeCycle and Positive Being.
