Looking Inward

Winter NightsDecember is the holiday season. For many of us it's a busy time of year filled with spending time with friends and family. There's often so much to do and so many things going on. It can be hard just to slow down and take a breath!

But December is also the winter solstace. The nights are long and it's cold outside. This can be a great time of year to turn our attantion inward. Turning inward is so often overlooked in our busy culture, but the rewards are great.

Listening to your body is a term that I use often in coaching. When we're busy it's really hard to listen to the subtle cues of the body. Yet, when we take the time to listen there are many messages.

It can be easy to neglect our bodies with the demands of our fast paced, work and media filled world. We can become cut off from our feelings, sensations and physical needs. We may experience a sense of emptiness, low libido, negative body/self-image, and more.

It is important to take time to slow down and begin to listen to your body. What are you needing – more sleep, more movement, more pleasure, more self-connection, more connection with others, etc.? Taking the time to listen to your body and giving yourself time to breathe, to move, to rest, to enjoy pleasure can greatly improve your sense of self and well-being.

Listening really doesn't take that much time. Try this simple exercise. Make yourself comfortable and close your eyes. Take a few nice deep breaths and slowly check in with each part of your body from head to toe. Resist the temptation to try to change what you're noticing - just notice.

Join us on the third Monday of each month at Eros, which is located at 2051 Market St.; San Francisco, CA 94114. Eros is across from Safeway supermarket, and between Church & Dolores Streets. BART riders can transfer to MUNI at the Civic Center station and exit at the Church street station. We'll meet from 6:30 to 9:00PM. The doors open at 6:00. This is a sexually explicit event including nudity and hands-on practices. Please bring a towel. Massage oil will be available; if you prefer another lube, please bring what you like.

You do not need to pay an admission fee to Eros for this workshop; however, you may optionally enjoy the facilities at Eros after the workshop by paying a separate admission fee.
